Lessons Learned Going West to Test the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk2

Obviously, we owe everyone involved in the Go West and Test project a big thank you. Photographers, dealers, journalists and all the locals. You helped make it a fun expedition, regardless of the long days in wet, windy weather. Our memories will live after we go east, and so will this website. Check back in for more posts in the future.

Those of us who work with Olympus cameras every day weren't really all that surprised by how well the OM-D E-M1 Mk2 and M.Zuiko PRO lenses performed: rugged, reliable and sophisticated, the equipment continued to deliver in challenging light and weather conditions. So did the photographers. Most of them are used to working with other camera systems, but they immediately started finding their own ways of using the E-M1 to get the images they wanted. Literally within minutes, we saw the first impressive results.

Spending time in the field with some of Norway's leading nature photographers is a humbling experience. Not only are they impressive in their knowledge of everything we see, hear, touch and smell in the wild; they are also dedicated professional communicators with strong visual voices. Nature photography is not just about producing pretty pictures; it is about documenting the impact humans have on the only planet we have to live on.
